SpaceX will launch 200 Australian satellites into space over the next two years.
This was reported by The Guardian, Ukrinform reports.
Launched by Skykraft from Canberra and supported by the Australian Civil Aviation Authority (Airservices Australia), the project includes the launch of 200 satellites to improve flight safety and communications.
“Airservices Australia will for the first time have full coverage for surveillance services. “They will know where every plane in Australia is,” said Michael Frater, CEO of Skykraft.
In addition, satellites will be used to replace the radar and radios used to communicate with the pilots.
The first satellites will launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in early January and three months of tests are scheduled before they are used by Airservices Australia.
As reported, SpaceX has launched 54 more satellites of the Starlink satellite internet system into Earth orbit.
