Steam, Valve’s digital gaming platform, recently released a new feature called Steam Replaywhich provides a graphical summary of user activity throughout 2022 (and we assume it will be refreshed annually).

It doesn’t take a genius to guess that Steam Replay allows you to get data on titles that are played the longest in 2022 (from January 1 to December 14). In addition, it also displays other statistics, such as the number of games played during the mentioned period, the platforms used, and the proportion of time the controller or keyboard and mouse were used. In my case, platforms are missing, perhaps because I only use a Linux desktop for gaming, and the 19% keyboard and mouse usage is almost entirely derived from playing Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and both episodes of the latter.

Other data displayed via Steam Replay is the number of consecutive days played, the number of achievements unlocked and the distribution of games depending on the period of release, which have been split into “New Releases”, which correspond to titles launching in 2022; “Recent Favorites”, which include those published in the past seven years; except for “Classic Games”, which are those launched eight or more years ago.

Another broken down section is genres. Racing games aren’t my forte, although I’ve played the first DiRT Rally and Horizon Chase Turbo quite a bit this year. The former was quite fun if I could handle the challenge it presented, while the latter is an OutRun and Top Gear inspired arcade game highly recommended, especially if one wants to have fun without complications.

Another chart worth noting is the proportion of time spent on each game per monththough it’s important to note that what’s shown here is a percentage compared to other titles the user has in their Steam library, not hours.

And here are some of the most interesting things to see in Steam Replay. Obviously, each user of the platform will have their own graphics and data generated depending on purchases, hours played and personal preferences. We take this opportunity to commemorate the Steam Winter Sale and leave you with a presentation video posted on the official Steam YouTube channel, which is shot in a bright humorous tone.
