In a few weeks, Samsung will unveil the long-awaited Galaxy S23 series. The next-gen flagship lineup is said to feature a slightly updated design, Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC, upgraded cameras, brighter screens, and larger batteries. In addition to hardware updates, Samsung is likely to bring various software improvements to the Galaxy S23 series. While the company has not officially shared any details, a recent leak suggests that the smartphones could launch with the new Android 13-based One UI 5.

Samsung has reportedly started testing updated firmware (version S908EXXU2CVL7) on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and based on past trends, we expect it to debut with the Galaxy S23 series. While we don’t have full details on what’s new in One UI 5.1, Samsung has previously reported that the update will bring additional lock screen tweaks.

Back in October, Samsung released a press release highlighting some of the most important changes to Android 13-based One UI 5. The update will change users’ wallpaper, clock style and notifications. But the thin text at the bottom of the press release states that some of these features will come with One UI 5.1.

Samsung has added several lock screen customization options in One UI 5.0, including the ability to change the wallpaper and clock style. However, the popup notification setting is not available in the latest version and will most likely ship with One UI 5.1. We currently have no information about any additional features that Samsung may offer in the upcoming One UI 5 release. But we hope to learn more in the days leading up to launch.
