According to Space.com, the Falcon 9 launch vehicle launched a batch of next-generation (Gen2) Starlink satellites at 11:34 am Kyiv time from the spaceport in Florida, USA.
Starlink 2nd generation is said to be more powerful than the 3,300 Starlink satellites currently in orbit.
Probably SpaceX needs to increase efficiency, so it has decided to send more powerful satellites into space. Gen2 satellites can transmit services directly to smartphones, in addition to being able to handle more traffic.
On December 1, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted SpaceX permission to deploy 7,500 Gen2 satellites.
As Ukrinform reports, SpaceX will launch 200 Australian satellites into space over the next two years.
