A few years ago, Microsoft planned to release Windows 10X for devices with dual displays and flexible displays. But the project was first frozen and then completely closed, all its work transferred to Windows 11. And now the company plans to optimize Windows 11 for complex and dual-screen PCs.
The source states that this time there will be no separate “endowed” version. Instead, they only plan to change the interface.
If the system detects that it is installed on a computer with a folding screen or dual screen, it will automatically adapt to the device. This will simplify development and consolidate the code base. In fact, the difference will only be at the interface level. All things considered, the appearance of the system on a PC with two screens will be closer to the tablet version of the system. However, they have not shown any results yet.
As for timing, Microsoft plans to release an optimized version of Windows 11 for foldable and dual-screen PCs in the fall of 2023.
