MSI expands its storage offering with the new SPATIUM SSD

MSI SPATIUM is the Taiwanese manufacturer’s own line of SSD drives. And it’s just expanded it with three new mid-range “M” models that can be used to expand or upgrade desktops and laptops and for any type of computing task, professionals, content creators and gamers.
All three new solutions are offered in design M.2 2280, a compact format that leads consumer storage at the expense of previous 3.5- and 2.5-inch SATA and SSD hard drive formats. These units connect to the interface PCIe 4.0, the fastest until the new Gen5 hits the market. They include high-density 3D NAND memories, various levels of DRAM cache, and an unspecified controller.
MSI SPATIUM M461. It is the fastest ever with a sequential read speed of up to 5,000 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 4,200 MB/s. Available storage capacities will be 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB.
MSI SPATIUM M452 a 453. These are basic models with file transfer speeds of up to 3,600 MB per second in sequential read mode and 2,800 MB per second in write mode. They will be offered in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB versions.
All announced SPATIUM products support a wide range of data error correction features, including LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection, providing high TBW (Terabytes Written) for increased durability and longevity. In this regard, the entire series can be said to have a limited warranty 5 years.
The manufacturer provides additional support through a software solution integrated into MSI Center, which monitors the state of the disk, used capacity, operating temperature or allows you to update its firmware. In addition, MSI has entered into a partnership with Actiphy, as data backup solutions to allow users who purchase and install one of their SSDs to store and transfer their files.
No price has been given for the new units, but they should be cheap given that they are aimed at the mid-range and that MSI has other faster models in its catalog such as the M480 with speeds in excess of 7GB/s and that the competition is huge, with excellent drives, as you can see in our latest SSD guide.
