American company Starlink, which provides internet access services via its own telecommunication satellites, registered a subsidiary in Azerbaijan on November 1, according to network sources. According to the Azerbaijan State Register of Commercial Entities, the office of Starlink Azerbaijan LLC is located in the Azure Business Center in Baku.

Lauren Dreyer, director of business operations at Starlink at SpaceX, has been appointed head of the new unit. According to available data, the American company plans to start providing satellite Internet services in Azerbaijan next year. The exact timing of Starlink’s launch in the country has not been disclosed, for this the American company needs permission from industry regulators. Regardless, Starlink Azerbaijan is already accepting orders and a $99 deposit is required to complete the order.

Starlink offers broadband Internet access services in various countries around the world. Now the orbital grouping of the company’s satellites includes more than 3,000 devices. Earlier this week, Starlink launched the first batch of second-generation Starlink satellites that can handle more traffic and allow customers to connect directly to a smartphone. This month, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authorized SpaceX to place 7,500 second-generation Starlink satellites into orbit, but the company plans to send up to 30,000 such devices into space.
