Google has been limiting the possibilities of recording searches for almost 10 years, but this 2022 will be the year to deal them the final blow. Android 13 is more aggressive than ever with permissions, and all 12 current versions focus on privacy improvements. The next change? Kick all apps asking for permission to record calls from Play Store.
Google held a Webinar for developers yesterday explaining the news about privacy policies on Google Play. One of the most relevant changes is that Play Store appswill not be able to use accessibility permission to record calls.
Accessibility permission is particularly dangerous. Using this you can control an entire cell phone, so Google is increasingly limiting its possibilities. With the rise of malware on Android, apps will have a hard time asking for said permission. And how does this permission affect the recording of calls?
In 2018, with Android 9.0 Pie, Google limited access to undocumented APIs. This was the main way calling apps were supposed to record and after restrictions they had to use accessibility permission to be able to record system sounds. Not being able to use these permissions after the banapps cannot record calls.
There is one important exception here, and that is that native system applications will be able to perform this function as they do not require call recording permission. Again, Several manufacturers in Spain allow recording callsso this decision will be a serious setback for users registering apps like True Caller.
Despite these restrictions, he made the law, he made the trap. Google restrictions refer to apps downloaded from Google Play. If we download the APK from an external source, it will continue to work as there will be no system lock, there will be a limitation in the app store itself.
