Chinese company Oppo plans to start production of special processors for smartphones. This was reported by GizmoChina. The first chipset will be on the market in 2023.

Oppo is collaborating with Taiwanese semiconductor company TSMC as part of the project. Oppo’s first processor will be made using a four-nanometer technological process and will also receive support for an external 5G modem and Finfet power standard.

A working prototype of the Oppo computing unit is expected to be ready in the second quarter of 2023. Mass production of the chips will begin in the third quarter.

However, another GizmoChina source believes that Oppo may delay the launch of the processors to 2024. The company will then be able to launch chips that have already been fabricated using a three-nanometer technical process that will have a positive impact on energy efficiency.

Oppo already has experience in designing processors. In the past, Mari had produced an image processing chip from Silicon cameras.
