According to the Pentagon, the USA has developed a new type of drone that will meet the requirements of the Ukrainian army and will be further developed. “In our conversations with Ukrainian representatives about their demands, we have come to the conclusion that this particular system meets their needs very well, especially in eastern Ukraine,” US Secretary of Defense John Kirby said on Thursday, April 21.

Development of the Phoenix Ghost drone system began before Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine. Now, according to Kirby, this system is planned to be refined to better meet the needs of the Ukrainian military.

A Pentagon spokesperson said minimal training is required to operate the drones. Kirby said the new drones are similar to the Switchblade kamikaze drones the US has supplied to Ukraine, although they are different. He did not specify what the difference was.
