Turkey is preparing an astronaut to be sent to the International Space Station in the second half of 2023.
According to the Ukrinform reporter, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank explained this while summarizing the work within the framework of the National Space Program.
“After passing the necessary training, the astronaut is scheduled to be sent to the International Space Station for scientific research in the second half of 2023,” the minister said.
The feasibility study and budgeting of the projects developed by the Turkish Space Agency within the scope of the National Space Program have been completed. Studies on the Moon Exploration Program and the Turkish Astronaut and Science Mission project continue.
According to Mustafa Varank, the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) has provided 40.9 million lira (2.2 million dollars) support to 169 people in the field of space sciences within the scope of Scientist Support in the last 20 years. programs . In the field of space research, 31 projects were supported at the level of 30.2 million Turkish Liras (more than 1.6 million USD – ed.).
