LG’s OLED TVs to improve brightness by up to 70% by 2023

With CES 2023 just around the corner, major tech companies around the world are warming up to launch their products. Besides PC related stuff, LG aims to introduce its future Z3, G3 and C3 smart TV models with OLED screens.

The biggest difference between LG’s current OLED TVs and the new ones is the higher level of brightness found on the G3. This was achieved using a new light control architecture and light enhancement algorithms increase brightness by up to 70% in G3 variants with 55-, 65- and 77-inch panels.

The G3, C3 and Z3 models with 8K resolution use the new a9 Gen 6 processor with AI upscaling, HDR tone mapping and object sharpening.. The chip also plays an important role in audio processing by supporting 9.1.2-channel surround sound from the built-in speakers. LG has built in a WOW Orchestra feature capable of using the TV’s speakers to supplement the output of the brand’s newer soundbars.

Smart TVs pre-install a “complex” operating system, like those often found on computers and mobile phones, with many functions, settings and the ability to install applications. Recognizing that the WebOS interface can be overwhelming, LG worked to make version 23 of the system less scrolling with just two pages of app content.

The number of categories displayed through WebOS will be reduced and “quick tabs” will help the user to dive into them. Personal profiles, quick settings and AI-based keyword recommendations will help better tailor the TV experience to the user’s tastes and preferences, while Matter support should help with that experience in conjunction with presumably smart and compatible home devices.

At general levels, things from previous generations are retained, but they introduce improvements. The Z3 remains the flagship running 8K with a 77- or 88-inch screen. The G3 has improved its wall-mount support with a zero-gap design and will be available in sizes from 55 to 97 inches, although the 70% brightness improvement is only available on the 55 variant. , 65 and 77 inches. The C3 series will be available in sizes from 42 to 83 inches, but only includes the standard gloss boost.

The important change that LG applied is that there is no other A-series, so the company has come to regard the B3 as its line aimed at offering entry-level OLED smart TVs.. Said lineup will have a lower-end a7 Gen 6 processor and won’t implement increased brightness, but will offer 4K at 120Hz via 55-, 65-, and 77-inch panels.

LG is expected to reveal all the specifications, pricing and availability of its future OLED smart TVs soon.
