Presentations are piling up in Las Vegas, and next comes the Acer Predator, the high-end computers and monitors that the Taiwanese manufacturer focuses on video gaming.

Acer has announced the launch of two new Predator Helios series notebooks and two Predator monitors. The notebooks have a completely new design with screen sizes of 16 and 18 inches, run Windows 11 and, as expected, have been updated to 13th generation Intel Core processors and NVIDIA RTX 40 dedicated graphics, which were also announced at CES. As for the monitors, there are two models of 45 and 27 inches with OLED screens and high performance for games.

Acer Predator Helios 16 and 18

The manufacturer has committed to two models with large screens. The Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71) offers two 16-inch panels to choose fromone WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 16:10, a refresh rate of 165Hz or 240Hz and a second 250Hz Mini LED panel, with AUO AmLED technology that supports more than 1000 nits of maximum brightness, has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

The Predator Helios 18 (PH18-71) expands to an impressive diagonal 18 inches and it is the ideal type of laptop to replace desktop computers. It also offers several panels to choose between WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) at 165 Hz and WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) at 165 or 240 Hz, or a 250 Hz Mini LED display that has a triple ambient contrast ratio. conventional displays and supports 1,000 local dimming zones.

The internal configuration of both is, as mentioned, with processors 13th generation Intel Core i9 or i7 HXalong with the GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 for notebooks (MGP up to 165 W). They can fit up to 32 GB of DDR5-4800 MHz RAM and up to 2 TB of capacity with PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage in RAID.

In the section cooling, the new Acer Predator laptops feature improved thermal solutions such as custom-designed 5th generation AeroBlade 3D dual metal fans and rectangular heatsinks for better heat transfer. All this powerful technology is housed in a new Helios series case design with a matte black chassis with clean edges and thinner bezels.

The back of the laptop includes several ports (Thunderbolt 4, USB, HDMI, and SD memory cards) and a customizable RGB light strip that runs along the top of the rear vents. The new design is complemented by a mini-LED backlit keyboard with 1.8 mm key lift and N-Key Rollover function to prevent ghosting. The keyboard includes RGB backlighting of individual keys, and in terms of connectivity, the Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet controller and compatibility with the Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E frequency band stand out.

Acer Predator X45 and X27U

Two are the new monitors in this series that Acer brought to Las Vegas, both with OLED screens and clear access to games. The Predator X45 is a curved 800R monitor with a massive diagonal 45 inches and UWQHD widescreen resolution (3440×1440 pixels). It has a refresh rate of 240 Hz, a response time of 0.1 milliseconds and is certified for AMD FreeSync Premium.

It is compatible with 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, is TÜV Rheinland EyeSafe certified and supports HDR10 for a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. It is equipped with DisplayPort 1.4 inputs and two HDMI 2.0 ports, so it can be used for both PC and consoles. An adjustable metal stand with an ergonomic base that allows various adjustments keeps the monitor stable even with its large dimensions.

The second model is the Predator X27U, p 27 inch flat screen, native WQHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels) and the same refresh rate and response time as its older brother: 240 Hz and 0.1 ms. The monitor is also TÜV Rheinland EyeSafe certified with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits and HDR10 capability.

Both monitors are equipped with a KVM switch that allows you to easily switch from a desktop computer to a laptop or other device without having to change keyboards or mice. In addition, thanks to the USB hub with Type-C ports, they facilitate the connection of various gadgets and peripherals.

Prices and availability

  • The Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71) will be available in Spain from February starting at €2,399.
  • The Predator Helios 18 (PH18-71) will be available in Spain from March starting at €2,499.
  • The Predator X45 will be available in Spain from the second quarter of 2023 starting at 1,799 euros.
  • The Predator X27U will be available in Spain from the second quarter of 2023 from 1,099 euros.
