Alienwaresubsidiary Dell specialized in computers playing games (and reflect professional contexts as well), announced its own before CES 2023 M, X and G series notebooks with significant improvements compared to the previous generation of the brand’s models. Not only has the hardware been updated here, which is quite logical given the profile of the products, but the company has also worked to improve aspects such as materials, design, dispersion and comfort.
Dubbed Legend, Alienware’s design framework is entering its third update, which the brand says is intended to improve aspects such as interactivity, comfort and performance. The company has traditionally offered laptops with 15- and 17-inch screens, but thanks to improvements in cooling technology, it was able to expand its catalog to include 15- and 18-inch screens, in addition to the 14-inch ones already shown at CES 2022.
Other features shared by all notebook models include a 16:10 screen aspect ratio, the introduction of technologies to minimize blue light emissions without sacrificing image quality, a web camera that works at a higher resolution, and a new design that improves airflow.
Alienware M Series (or M Series)
The Alienware M18 is the most powerful laptop that the brand has announced recently. It can be found with a Raptor Lake-generation Intel Core i9-13980H processor and GeForce RTX 4090 graphics for notebooks, or with a next-generation AMD Ryzen processor along with dedicated Radeon graphics for this type of device. Whether Intel+NVIDIA or AMD, all variants feature significant advancements implemented in Alienware Cryo-tech.
Improvements incorporated into the Alienware M18 include the Element 31 thermal interface material now used by the CPU and GPU, a vapor chamber that covers the CPU and GPU and increases thermal capacity by 35%, seven heat pipes that increase surface dissipation by 114% compared to M17, plus four fans with ultra-thin blades that improve airflow by 25%.
Other features of the Alienware M18 are a full keyboard with optional CHERRY MX mechanical keys. With the aim of offering the best in notebooks, it employs DDR5 memory and supports up to 9TB of data storage, which includes the operating system. The screen can be QHD at 165 Hz or Full HD at 480 Hz with Dynamic Display Switching technology and compatibility with G-Sync and FreeSync.
If 18 inches is too much for users, there is another model in the same range, the Alienware M16, which basically benefits from the same features and advantages, but has reduced the size of the device a bit to make it easier to transport.
The reference price of the Alienware M18 in the US is $2,899 with more modest configurations planned in the future starting at $2,099, while the original Alienware M16 has a base price of $2,599 and future variants will cost $1,899.
It should be taken into account that the prices in the United States are tax-free, and this adds to the usual equipment that the prices for Spain will be much higher.
Alienware X Series (or X Series)
Alienware X series laptops have a 16 inch micro LED screen. Other things to keep in mind are the new AlienFX Loop and Rainbow Light modes that have arrived, along with a larger RGB-backlit touchpad and six speakers for a premium sound experience with Dolby Atmos.
Internally, the Alienware X16 basically shares the same as the M series, so it can be purchased with a processor High-end Intel Raptor Lake next to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40, which can be up to RTX 4090 for laptops or “all AMD”, with the latest generation of Ryzen and Radeon graphics oriented to the type of device. Other features include an RGB backlit keyboard with optional CHERRY MX mechanical keys. The lighting, as it could be, is dynamic and customizable using the Alienware Command Center.
And finally within the range is the renewal of the model with a 14-inch screen that charges via USB Type-C and has a dual-fan design that allows for increased performance with the option of adding Cryo-dissipation technology. Element 31 interface.
The base price of the original Alienware X16 model will be $3,099, with more modest future variants starting at $1,899. The Alienware X14 will start at $1,799.
Dell G Series (or G Series)
And finally, we have the G series, which consists of the Dell G15 and Dell G16 laptops. These models aim to offer reliability and simplicity at a modest price and a youthful aesthetic thanks to eye-catching color combinations that feature hints of orange and blue contrasted with premium metallic finishes. The result is an aesthetic that can harken back to the 1980s.
Both laptop models have macro keys that players can program with complex actions that are performed all at once, instead of having to perform a combination of keys. The G15 offers RGB keyboard options with a numeric keypad, while the G16 offers an optional RGB keyboard with Cherry MX mechanical keys.
When it comes to components, we again find ourselves with the option of purchasing laptops with Intel+NVIDIA or Ryzen+Radeon to offer the best performance in performing games. New to the line is the Element31 vapor chamber cooling and thermal interface for the first time. The user will be able to use the Alienware Command Center to customize the device experience.
The Dell G15 will start at $849 and the G16 will bottom out at $1,499.
