In addition to introducing a host of new hardware during CES 2023, ASUS also announced an interesting new software technology that will be implemented in some OLED laptops to provide a glass-free 3D experience. Here are all the details.

Just yesterday, we covered Acer’s announcement that released an update to improve existing SpatialLabs TrueGame technology that allows 3D gaming without special 3D glasses. Now, it seems that a Taiwanese computer manufacturer has also released a similar technology. The company is looking for ways to bring this feature to OLED laptop displays with ASUS Spatial Vision, “glassesless (autostereoscopic) 3D OLED technology.”

So now computers that support Spatial Vision will be able to use a combination of lenticular lenses and advanced eye tracking camera technology to deliver a 3D experience. With this technology, the system can create individual images for each eye and track the position of your head and eyes to adjust the result. From now on, ASUS will introduce Spatial Vision 3D technology in two laptops in the second quarter of this year, including ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED and Vivobook Pro 16 3D OLED.

The company is presenting the new technology for the first time in these laptops, thanks to its higher resolutions of 3200×2000 pixels and high refresh rate support such as 120Hz. Additionally, there’s also an optical resin layer, a glass panel, and a lenticular lens that help work with a pair of eye-tracking cameras to reconstruct real-time images. This means that this technology will not work with just an OLED laptop, at least for now.
