Manufacturer of Chinese origin TCL showed at CES 2023 three smartphone models that will be sold at affordable prices. The brand, which is also known for its TVs and laptops, maintains the same strategy of betting on the ratio of price and quality.

The three smartphones shown correspond to the TCL 40 series and will have prices ranging from $129 to $219, amounts that will rise in Spain due to tax issues and other issues. All feature a 50-megapixel rear camera and the brand’s NxtVision display mode, which is essentially an HDR mode that kicks in when watching videos or playing games. The exact models are TCL 408, TCL 40 S and TCL 40 R 5G and all running on Android 13.

TCL admitted at a press conference that 95% of its customers use prepaid plans, which often do not require a credit check. That said, it recognizes that maintaining its commitment to value for money is essential to further growing the brand and expanding its customer base. Its new smartphones will compete with other models such as the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, which was presented at CES 2023 and will have a reference price of $199 in the United States.

When we dive into the models, the cheapest is TCL 408. This smartphone, the price of which will be 129 dollars, has a dual-camera setup on the back, with the aforementioned 50-megapixel camera being accompanied by another macro. Initially, its launch is planned for Asia and Europe.

The second one is TCL 40 SE, a smartphone with a 6.75-inch screen that works at a native resolution of 720p and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. For him data storage will be 128 or 256 gigabytes which can be expanded using a microSD. As for the rear camera, it adds another 2MP depth to the TCL 408 configuration and is scheduled to launch in Europe during the first quarter of 2023.
