We continue our review of CES 2023, which is proving to be very fruitful, and we do this by reviewing the news that Samsung presents in relation to its TVs, with many and very interesting news, in addition to confirming that Korean technology is already ready to adapt to the new the regulatory framework, which will be applied in the European Union from March 1 of this year. And in this regard, the company has already done its homework, because its new TVs have already adapted to it.

But before we get into this new regulatory rule, let’s start by looking at what Samsung brought to Las Vegas, which can be summed up in the new Neo QLED, MICRO LED and Samsung OLED lines, along with lifestyle products and accessories. It might not seem like it, but the truth is that we’ve come across quite a few notifications, so we’re going to check them out.

We start with news in the family Samsung Neo QLEDthe brand’s top product, with designs with 8K 7 4K resolution supported by Samsung’s own integrated Neural 8K device, which is responsible for processing the input signal regardless of its origin for all intelligent image processing functions ( upscaling, color and brightness adjustments, HDR etc.), many of which are based on artificial intelligence algorithms to provide the best possible result.

Television is particularly noteworthy in this respect Quantum Mini LEDsequipped with a 14-bit processor and has intelligent AI-based image scaling, to which more features such as Shape Adaptive Light Control and Real Depth Enhancer Pro are added, capable of providing the user with a realistic three-dimensional image.

I’ve mentioned before, and it’s worth evaluating individually, the image processing that Samsung Neo QLED TVs do when it comes to high dynamic range (HDR) images. As you already know, this technology offers better and more vivid color rendering in the entire spectrum (from highlights to shadows). Although today more and more native content is generated in HDR. the vast majority of what we see is SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), but these TVs have all the necessary elements to process it in real time, so they offer HDR-quality images from SDR content.

Interconnectivity between devices is key, not in the future, but now. In this regard, these new screens can be used for direct control (that is, without the need for any additional device that takes over the role hub) Zigbee and Thread devices, except that in 2023 the SmartThings Zigbee & Matter Thread One-Chip Module will be directly integrated into Samsung products and that SmartThings will be able to manage not only Samsung devices but also other third-party IoT products that provide global control over our home infrastructure and connected devices.

We also found, as I mentioned at the beginning, news in MICRO LED and Samsung OLED families. The first adds new models that expand its range in size in a powerful range from 50 to 140 inches with image quality and reduced consumption ensured by Micro LED technology. With such a wide range of sizes, Samsung’s intention is undoubtedly to provide solutions that adapt to all types of spaces.

As for Samsung OLED, the new 2023 lineup will include refreshed 55-inch, 65-inch models, as well as a new ultra-large 77-inch model. To guarantee image quality, these new models use Quantum Dot technology developed for Samsung’s Neo QLED as well as Neural Quantum processors. These screens thus combine the best of the veteran and very efficient OLED technology with their own improvements, so far higher-class screens, such as the removal of some limitations in the area of ​​brightness and color rendering.

As you’d expect, the extended range offers a 144Hz refresh rate and of course all the features smart from a manufacturer such as the Samsung Gaming Hub, which offers users the ability to play in the cloud without a console, from their Smart TV. And for the first time in an OLED TV, they feature AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification for the best OLED gaming experience.

Special spaces require special screens, and that’s exactly the league in which players play. Samsung lifestyle devices, displays and projectors where performance, premium features and design go hand in hand. On this occasion, the brand presents two devices:

• 8K Premiere: An 8K ultra-short throw laser projector that offers users the same ultra-large screen as the previous version, but now with an even higher resolution. Supports screen size up to 150 inches.
• Freestyle with Smart FRINGE Mixing: Freestyle is the most flexible device that allows consumers to watch what they want, where they want. In 2023, thanks to the new Smart EDGE Blending feature, users will be able to use two of the devices and view content in a 21:9 configuration without the need for manual alignment or adjustments. This year, The Freestyle will also be compatible with the Samsung Gaming Hub.

We end this review of the new TVs presented by Samsung at CES 2023 by talking not about TVs, but about one of the most important accessories for them, their sound solutions accompany the screens. Here are three announcements from the Korean tech company in this regard:

• AI Sound Remastering: In 2023, Samsung’s flagship TV and soundbar will offer AI-powered audio remastering that remasters every sound to make voices clear, ambient sounds fully immersive, and every component at the right volume.

What is happening in Europe?

As we told you at the beginning, from March 1, the European Union will start applying a new standard that limits the Energy Efficiency Index (IEE) for electronic screens. This new regulatory framework will introduce new energy labels to promote sustainable energy use, which in our homes will translate into lower electricity consumption thanks to this better information.

Among the announcements made by Samsung in connection with CES 2023 in this regard, the company said that with almost two months until its entry into force, it is fully prepared for it and said that it will be the first in the market to fully comply with the new European regulations on labeling of energy efficiency.
