Viktor Shimko, a programmer from Kropyvnytskyi, taught the Google Assistant service’s artificial intelligence (AI) to read aloud the Ukrainian Bible translated by Ivan Ohienko.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Religious Service of Ukraine reported this.
“Kropivnytskyi programmer Viktor Shimko has created an additional skill (skill – English skill, opportunity) for the Google Assistant service that expands the capabilities of artificial intelligence and allows Ivan Ohienko to read the Bible aloud in its Ukrainian translation,” the message says.
As mentioned, the skill was developed in three weeks. To enable the function of reading the Bible, the programmer chose the “Talk to the Ukrainian Bible” command, which is available after the standard start of Google Assistant.
Next, the AI presents the user with two options: Listen to the Bible (Listen to a part of the Bible reading, i.e. a section from the New Testament linked to today’s calendar date) and Change Settings (choose a male or female voice, as well as tones).
The team “Speak with the Ukrainian Bible” works in all countries of the world. The new service is available on all virtual assistants like Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri, as well as physical devices like Google Home. In the absence of such a device, the service can be used through the Google Assistant application.
