On Tuesday, January 10, Microsoft will release the final security patch for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, after which official support for these operating systems will end. This is reported by the gHacks portal.
Users will be able to continue using their computers, but the lack of new patches with fixes can put the security of a device running Windows 7 or 8.1 at risk.
Despite this, 0patch platform enthusiasts have previously announced that they will support Windows 7 until at least 2025 by releasing security patches for the operating system. They also announced support for Microsoft Edge for Windows 7 until January 2025.
Windows 7 and 8.1 were released in 2009 and 2013 respectively. For many years, even after the release of newer versions, Windows 7 continued to lead the way in active users.
