LG completed the last webOS update in 2021 and introduced affiliate advertising and user recommendations in navigation. Now, LG’s new OLED and LCD TVs will receive an operating system update. with a focus on simplifying navigation and improving user experience.

webOS will present quick cards tool (Fast Cards, loosely translated), providing quick access to the user’s favorite content. Ads and recommendations will remain in the new webOS, which is sure to frustrate some, but the new design promises an easier browsing experience. LG confirmed that there are no plans to port the new webOS to previous generations of LG TVs.. That is, the focus of the company will be updating the operating system on the OLED and QNED models of the company’s new releases.

OUR the main screen will be divided into two parts, one with sponsored content from partners and the other with Quick Cards that can be customized by the user, and below will be apps installed on Smart TVs. On the second screen, which can be accessed by scrolling down the tab, the user will find the contents of the Now Streaming section with tabs for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming services that LG has partnered with. Finally, in the new webOS, it will be possible to create a personalized avatar to identify the user.

LG confirms it will add support for Matter smart home standard

LG has confirmed that the company’s future TVs will support Matter, a smart home connectivity standard that unifies smart home connectivity. Currently, the Matter standard is used by companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung. The technology uses Internet Protocol (IP), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to make all smart home products compatible with each other. This makes it easy to connect devices from different manufacturers.

Still LG said Matter support will also be coming to TVs launching in 2022., such as LG OLED evo G2, LG OLED evo C2 and QNED MiniLED. It remains to be seen if the company plans to include Matter support in older models, but it looks like the company is focusing on new releases.
