Latvian company airBaltic will be the first airline in Europe to launch Starlink satellite internet on its aircraft.

This was stated in the company’s press release, reported Ukrinform.

“This is a historic moment for our airline and for the industry as a whole. AirBaltic will soon be the first airline in Europe to launch high-speed, unlimited and free satellite internet on board,” said CEO Martin Gauss.

He said airBaltic will work with SpaceX to obtain the required STC (supplementary type certification) approval, and that airBaltic is expected to begin installing the product on airBaltic’s entire Airbus A220-300 fleet this year.

“As the first European airline to implement Starlink in its fleet, airBaltic sets a new standard in providing Internet access to passengers,” said Jonathan Hoffeller, SpaceX’s VP of Sales for Starlink.

As reported, on December 28, 2022, SpaceX launched the first batch of 54 next-generation Starlink satellites into space.
