After receiving commands from flight controllers on the ground, an uncrewed SpaceX Dragon spacecraft left the launch port of the International Space Station’s Harmony module at 17:05 on January 9, 2023. At the time of docking, the station was flying approximately 259 miles above the Pacific Ocean.
The Dragon spacecraft successfully left the space station about a month ago after arriving at the orbiting laboratory to deliver approximately 4,400 pounds of scientific research and supplies.
The spacecraft will parachute off the coast of Florida on Wednesday, January 11, after re-entering Earth’s atmosphere. NASA will not broadcast the landing.
Dragon arrived at the space station on November 27, 2022, after launching a day earlier on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This was the company’s 26th commercial resupply mission to the space station for NASA.
