Samsung will introduce a new exclusive chip alongside the Galaxy S23

The Exynos 2200 SoC did not meet the expected success and did not meet the created expectations. This reality convinced us what will be the future of Samsung’s own chipsa question that we were gradually able to answer thanks to the moves made by the South Korean company itself.

First there were rumors that Samsung would stop developing its own SoC, but it didn’t make much sense, especially when the South Korean giant is a semiconductor manufacturerand having your own chip designs is essential, allowing you to expand your business and differentiate yourself from other smartphone manufacturers.

We were not on the wrong track, as we finally saw that Samsung decided to rethink its strategy with regard to the development of its own SoCs, namely I didn’t want to leave that market. In fact, the opposite is true, Samsung has strengthened its development teams to create more competitive chips that can face the most powerful solutions from Qualcomm and Apple.

Today we also learned, thanks to the statements of TM Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile division, that the South Korean company is planning to introduce a new “dedicated chip exclusive to the Galaxy series” using the Galaxy S23 presentation event, the celebration of which will take place on February 1.

The information we have is sparse, and in fact the direct translation of the executive’s statement is a bit confusing because It is unclear if this is a special chip that will accompany the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Galaxy S23or if, on the contrary, it will be a new generation solution that will take over the Exynos 2200.

We’ll have to wait for the launch event for all Samsung keys. In any case, it is very important because it confirms that the South Korean giant doesn’t want to lose ground in the field of custom chipsand that eventually it will only be a matter of time before it relaunches its own chip to compete at the top.

I remind you before I finish that at that time MediaTek had to do something similar. The Taiwanese company stopped competing in the high-end SoC market for a while and focused its efforts on the low-end and mid-range. When it finally completed a new design to create a truly competitive high-end chip, framed in the Dimensity range, it was able to return to the market in style and was able to hold its own without a problem.
