AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards fail massively for unknown reasons. This was reported by the Wccftech publication based on a video clip by YouTube blogger KrisFix-Germany, a part-time service center specialist in Germany.

KrisFix-Germany said that in about a month, 61 Radeon RX 6900 and RX 6800 graphics cards reached its workshop, 48 of which had broken GPUs. In all 48 cases, other similar symptoms were found: a short circuit in the SOC bus, the memory controller bus, as well as the memory bus. Blogger stated that this is the first time he has seen so many defective video cards with the same problems.

Owners of the broken parts reported that they did not expose the cards to extraordinary loads. Most users were either playing games or watching YouTube when the crash occurred.

Neither Wccftech nor KrisFix-Germany journalists know the exact cause of the malfunctions. But the blogger noticed a pattern – everyone who encountered the problem had installed the Adrenaline 22.11.2 driver released in December 2022.

Wccftech suggests that AMD has released a flawed driver version for its 6000 series graphics cards that disables the thermal protection of the processor. Until an official statement from the manufacturer, journalists advise users of the models in question to refuse to update the driver.
