State Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences noted that the device, the developer of which is the aforementioned center, is designed to monitor the energy and fluxes of high-energy particles orbiting the station, specifically protons, electrons, heavy ions and neutrons.
It is capable of providing key parameters to ensure the safety of the space station, launch of astronauts into space, the study of space materials science, and the conduct of biological experiments of great scientific and applied value.
The center added that during the development of the detector, a material called CLYC was used for the first time in the world, which will enable high-efficiency measurement of neutron parameters.
It was recorded that “Wentian”, the first laboratory module of the Chinese space station, was launched on July 24, 2022.
