I think you’ll agree with me that music has always been one of the most important aspects of video games and that there are issues that have been a place in history in itself. Some of these video game songs have a strong inspirational and motivational component that makes them great songs to enjoy every day and classics that seem timeless because they sound just as good as they did on day one. .

In my case, it’s video game songs that have been with me practically my whole life, and many of them I use daily to liven up those long days of PC work. I have others set aside for specific moments over many years I have a selection of topics that are very suitable for sportsand that I try to expand whenever possible by listening to new video game soundtracks.

Playing sports has always been an important part of my life, although I have to admit that over time it stopped being a passion and became more of a necessity. It is very easy to understand that when you spend many hours sitting in front of a screen, your body and health eventually suffer. I can say that I can’t imagine life without music and video games are another of my great passionsand today I want to share with you a very special and very personal article where I list ten of my favorite video game songs for sports.

1.-Guile’s Theme from Street Fighter 2

The truth is, it’s a song that really needs no introduction even the original still sounds great. Of all the versions I heard, I liked the one I leave you in the attached video the most, because it has a hint of intensity that fits perfectly with the essence of the song and makes it thin, but rather the opposite. A piece of jewelry that should not be missing from your collection.

2.-Ninja Gaiden level 4-2 theme

Our younger readers may not be familiar with this hit, but it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in an 80s video game. It always gives me goosebumps, and when it happens it gives me the urge to keep running or do a few more reps. The version I leave you with is, in my opinion, one of the best ever made, as it manages to maintain the unique rhythm of the original, but at the same time it brings new elements which marry perfectly and make it even more epic.

3.-Theme of the Japanese team from The King of Fighters 95

The King of Fighters saga boasts some of the best video game songs in all of history. I could list many songs that I like and listen to often, but to leave room for other songs, I decided to choose just one, the song Esaka by the Japanese team in The King of Fighters 95. Pure motivation with a rhythm that has the necessary changes to convey different sensations and strengthen us at different times of our training.

4.-The theme of Captain America in Marvel vs. Capcom

I’m not a Captain America fan, but I remember being shocked by this theme when I first heard it played against the CPU in Marvel vs Capcom on the PS1. The metal version I leave you below these lines is the best I have found so far and has everything because it not only improves and enhances the base of the original theme but also features a guitar solo that fits wonderfully and that it looks so good it feels like it’s always been there.

5.- The theme of Stygia Metal: Hellsinger

Metal: Hellsinger is a video game of this generation that drinks directly from the essence of DOOM Eternal, but falls short of its technical level and suffers from an overly repetitive approach. All in all, its soundtrack is a treat for metal lovers, and I think the Stygia theme is the best of all that it contains. The voice of Alyssa White-Gluzlead singer of Arch Enemy, sounds perfect with the contrast he creates with his guttural tones.

6.-Double Dragon Theme

Double Dragon was a game that made a big impression on me when I was a kid, and is undoubtedly the benchmark for what the 1980s were both in the video game industry and in part of the culture of the time and also cinematography. My favorite theme of this game is the metal version of the first level of the Nintendo NES game, which, as you can hear in the attached video, has been adapted with incredible mastery. All the essence of the eighties concentrated in just over two minutes of pure motivation and with one of the best delivered solos I’ve ever seen.

7.-Wind theme from Shinobi III

Shinobi III is one of the best Mega Drive games and its soundtrack is a true work of art. There are many themes that have been modified and such they have a more reedy version, but for sports I prefer Whirlwind because it has a fast pace and development that is really capable of picking you up when you need it. The version I leave you with is my favorite for its fidelity and the epic closure it has.

8.-The theme of killer instinct

As a fighting game, it never caught my eye, although I admit that it was a marvel for its time and that its soundtrack has some really good songs. Again, I could choose more than one, but to avoid repeating myself and to accommodate others, I leave you with the one that is my favorite, especially for those routine beginnings in which it is good to start a long piece with a freer rhythm. Ideal to start running, for example, because later we can listen to other faster and more intense songs to encourage us when fatigue starts to take its toll.

9.-Mass Effect 3 Hold the Line theme

Mass Effect also has a top-notch soundtrack, but the version of Hold The Line scored by SebDoom is spectacular and deserves recognition as one of the best “covers” in the world of video games. That’s a real hit It has such an epic start that it is able to give us the “high” we need start training with enthusiasm. I highly recommend it and it is also a very good choice to go jogging with. 10.-The theme of Kuze in Yakuza 0

The Yakuza saga has very memorable themes, although not all of them play the same color. Some have a comedic component and others are more serious and have a strong motivational component. The Pledge of Demon theme is undoubtedly one of the best in this regard.both for its rhythm and intensity, and for everything that is hidden behind the character it accompanies, whose motto is that it is not the one who falls many times who loses, but the one who stops getting up.
