Researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) in partnership with Hello Robot have developed a robot that can assist elderly people with disabilities.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by WCIA.
Today, the robot can perform daily tasks such as holding a spoon, dusting the window sill, and carrying a medical bottle.
Next, the researchers will examine the needs of people with mental illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and dementia and what kinds of daily tasks are important to them.
“We want them (elders with disabilities – ed.) to live independently and safely at home. Such a robot can provide assistance and keep these people safe,” said University researcher Harshal Mahajan.
It was noted that the experts also plan to create a technology that will allow people to use robots to communicate with people around the world.
As reported by Ukrinform, Milton Keynes University Hospital (UK) will test drug delivery to patients by a penguin-like robot.
