Our readers speak: what was your favorite PC component?

I think you will agree with me that we all have our favorite operating system and I am sure many of you will have popular PC componentthat sticks in your memory for its excellent performance, fantastic durability or perhaps simply for its design.

I want to focus this new opinion piece on that topic, and as usual, I’ll be the first one to get wet. My favorite PC component of all I’ve owned has been GeForce 9600 GT built by XFX Which I was riding on a full set refurbishment I did between late 2008 and early 2009 if I remember correctly.

That’s why I chose the graphics card I was on a very tight budget, and didn’t want to neglect other important components like the processor and RAM. The GeForce 9600 GT was capable of very good performance, just slightly below what we would have had with the GeForce 8800 GT at the time, and was much cheaper in price.

It offered excellent value for money at the time, so much so that I remember there was nothing better in its price range. I considered investing more in a GeForce GTX 260, but it must have thrown the team too far and I ended up going with the GeForce 9600 GT. This is my favorite PC component because it allowed me to play for many years for very little moneypractically before DirectX 11 became mandatory and because it had a very cool design for its time.

However, the truth is this I was left wanting to get a GeForce GTX 275 from Inno3D. At the time, I really liked the decoration this assembler used, and it was almost on par with the GeForce GTX 280 in terms of performance, but the price was much lower, so it was a better option. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any on the bazaar market, it seems that few of them were sold and there are no more left in circulation, too bad.

Now it’s your turn, what was your favorite PC component? Read in the comments.
