According to WHO, about 430 million people on the planet suffer from hearing loss. Scientists estimate that more than 1 billion people may be deaf in the future. Teenagers are at risk, as it’s the teens who use headphones the most.
Early research has shown that people often raise the volume of their headphones to 105 decibels, although the norm for adults is 80 decibels and 75 decibels for children.
The scientists examined the databases of 19,000 people aged 12 to 34. It was revealed that 24% of the young people listen to the music very loudly, usually with headphones, and 48% attend concerts at a high volume.
Researchers warn that between 0.67 and 1.35 billion young people may lose their hearing in the future.
