Apple plans to launch the first touchscreen laptop by 2025. This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency’s analyst, Mark Gurman, the company has begun work on a touchscreen Mac laptop project. The company expects the MacBook Pro device to be released in 2025.

Gürman noted that the design of the new device will not be radically different from the current MacBook Pros on the market. The laptop will have a case, screen, keyboard and a touchpad consisting of two halves. However, the screen will get a touch layer.

The article says that before the first computer with a touchscreen is released, Apple will need to adapt the operating system. Currently macOS is optimized for mouse and cursor only. Gürman suggested that larger interface elements may appear in the desktop operating system.

Mark Gurman recalled that Apple had previously stated that they had not seen the need to create a touchscreen computer. Therefore, in 2018, the company’s senior vice president, Craig Federighi, emphasized that using such a device would be inconvenient. Bloomberg reached out to Apple for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
