When the closure of Google Stadia was announced in September of last year, the date chosen to shut down the infrastructure, January 18th, seemed a little distant. There was still back-to-school, Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas, the turn of the year, wise men, the start of sales and the January slope… a lot of events and deadlines that, after the inexorable passage of time, were met. So already today, Monday January 16, 2023, we are standing before the gates of the closure of the connection, which will take place the day after tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th.

The most anticipated news in this regard finally came on Saturday, when Google announced that it will enable universal Bluetooth support for Stadia controllers this week. Until now, out of service, these drivers could only be used with a cable on a PC, but with this release, the drivers can now be used wirelessly on other services and devices, preventing much of their potential usefulness from being lost.

So, saying goodbye to Google Stadia, where Worm Game plays, the timer of the moment of shutdown is already expressed in hours, and if you have been a user of the service, it is very likely that you have already received a refund for the games you purchased, that you have transferred your games to all games, which enable cross-play between platforms, and therefore you may have already said goodbye to the service on a personal level.

But maybe you still have a task to do and maybe you didn’t even think about it until now, have you downloaded all your Stadia data? If you haven’t done so, the good news is that you still have time, but you need to hurry because along with shutting down the service, the ability to download all of your digital assets will also be turned off.

The other good news is that it’s really easy because, as usual with the search engine company, this operation is done through Google Takeout, the company’s data export service. So to download your Stadia data, go to Export data, in that link and in the list that appears, scroll down until you find the entry for the cloud gaming service.

To speed up the process, uncheck all other Google services and only download Stadia data. After making your selection, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Next Step” button.

Next, you will see a number of settings related to the download, such as whether you want it to be regular (which of course doesn’t make sense in this case), what you want Takeout to do with the download (send you a download link or upload it to some cloud storage service) , compression format and maximum file size (if your data takes up more, several files will be generated, always keeping in mind the limit you choose). Everything adjusted to your liking? Then click “Create Export”.

At that point, the export process will begin, which, as you will read on the website, can take a long time (although depending on the size and state of the servers, it can be practically instantaneous). Once complete, it will either upload to your chosen cloud hard drive or you will receive an email with a link to download your Stadia data:
