Square Enix has confirmed claims for Forspoken, one of the most anticipated games of 2023. It’s scheduled for release on January 24th and will be a PS5 and PC exclusive, meaning it will be developed using the console’s hardware. Sony as a base, good news because it will allow an important technical leap and level of graphic quality.
As you might imagine, this jump in technical quality has an important consequence, which is that it greatly increases the requirements of the Forspoken over the previous generation. This is even more evident if we compare its requirements with those of intergenerational play, because what we might previously have thought of as the recommended level has now become the minimum level.
This is a trend we can expect for current generation games, that is, those that were not developed for PS4 and Xbox One. The demands of the Forspoken seem excessive, that the game won’t really need 32GB of RAM and that it will probably run fine with 16GB of RAM.
Expressed requirements
As minimum requirements to play 720p and 30 FPS we have the following:
- Windows 10 64-bit as the operating system.
- Intel Core i7-3770 processor (4 cores and 8 threads) or Ryzen 5 1600 (6 cores and 12 threads). There is an equivalence error, Ryzen 5 1400 (4 cores and 8 threads) would be correct.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- Graphics card 6 GB GeForce GTX 1060 or 8 GB Radeon RX 5500 XT.
- 150 GB of free hard disk space, although an SSD is recommended.
The recommended requirements raise the bar quite a bit and allow us to play 1440p and 30 FPS. Are these:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit as the operating system.
- Intel Core i7-8700K processor (6 cores and 12 threads) or Ryzen 5 3600 (6 cores and 12 threads).
- 24 GB of RAM.
- GeForce RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card.
- 150 GB of free space on the SSD.
There is no list of recommended requirements for 1080p and 30 FPSbut from one GeForce GTX 1660 Super or Radeon RX Vega 56 we should be able to enjoy this setup without any problems.
If we want to play 4K with ultra quality and maintaining 60 FPS We will need a very powerful computer:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit as the operating system.
- Intel Core i7-12700 processor (12 cores and 20 threads) or Ryzen 7 5800X (8 cores and 16 threads).
- 32 GB of RAM.
- GeForce RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card. There was a serious equivalence error, the correct thing would be a GeForce RTX 3080.
- 150 GB of free space on an NVMe SSD for using DirectStorage.
