AYANEO AIR Plus will be the first portable console that the Chinese manufacturer will launch in 2023. And it will be the cheapest in your catalogwhich is not unique, as it has a few more models in development in the announced roadmap.

We’ve already reported that portable consoles are recovering thanks to the Steam Deck move. Valve’s design was the most popular in the media in 2022, but a piece of the pie of these handheld gaming PCs is being taken by the great Chinese specialists.

Most of the machines planned for launch in 2023 have already been announced by the manufacturer. One of them is AYANEO AIR Plus, an economic alternative to GPD versions, ONEXplayer, the mentioned Steam Deck and other higher categories of the same AYA. What the manufacturer has done is expand the hardware options, as we will now see.

All versions will have a screen 6 inch IPS diagonal with a native resolution of FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels), an unconfirmed amount of RAM (probably 8 GB) and an SSD M.2 2280 for storage. The basic version will have – at least – 1 USB4 port, 1 microSD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack and a fingerprint sensor for biometric security. Its battery will be 46.2 Wh and it will have the usual controls for games, triggers and joysticks that will have RGB lighting.

The manufacturer will expand the hardware options compared to what was originally planned. And it:

  • “Mendocino”: It will be the cheapest model with an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor (4 Zen 2 cores and 8 threads, with a maximum frequency of 4.3 GHz, 15 W TDP and Radeon 610M RDNA GPU.
  • “intel”: The intermediate version in terms of performance and price will be the one equipped with a Core i3-1215U with 2 P cores / 4 E cores and 8 threads, with a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz and 15 W TDP. The integrated graphics is Intel UHD with 64 execution units.
  • “Renoire”: The most advanced for those looking for performance will be the one that equips the Ryzen 7 6800U with 8 ZEN 3 cores and 16 threads with a frequency of up to 4.7 GHz and a TDP that will increase to 28 W. Its integrated graphics, although still RDNA 2, is a much more powerful Radeon 680M than AMD’s second variant.

With a choice of Windows or two Linux operating systems (AYNeo OS or Steam OS) and a black or light blue finish, it should be available this quarter. The “Mendocino” and “Intel” versions will have a price 299 dollarsthe cheapest portable console in its catalog.

The manufacturer’s next console for 2023
