The StockApps analytical platform has updated statistics on the use of mobile operating systems in different regions. Of course, there is no need to talk about a change in the leader – but the most popular firmware in the world does not feel as confident as it did three or four years ago.
According to the source, Google’s mobile operating system retains its leadership worldwide, but has lost about 8% of its audience over the past few years. So, from July 2018 to January 2022, the popularity of iOS grew by 6% – Apple increased its figures from 19.4% to 25.49%. Another 1.58% of lost Google accounted for alternative firmware.
According to statistics, today in the Asian and American regions, the market share of Android is 81% and 90%, respectively, and in Africa – 84%. In Europe, Google’s position is no longer so strong – 69.32% versus 30% for Apple. In North America and Oceania, the situation is in favor of iOS smartphones – 54% of devices against almost 45% of the competitor. The share of the rest of the fixed assets in all regions ranges from one to two percent.
Analysts note that Google’s advantage is still significant – Android is now running an average of seven out of ten smartphones worldwide. However, statistics show that the positions of the “green robot” are under increasing pressure from other players.
