Over time, Google Translate has become much more than just a translator: its accessibility makes it one of the most popular communication tools in the world. And it continues in those. Its latest news is expanding the number of languages ​​it supports offline for Android and iOS mobile apps.

Google Translate currently supports approx about 133 languages ​​in total, although not all of them enjoy the same level of support for various reasons, although you can already imagine the main one: the number of users of a given language. In the case of Spain, it goes without saying that Castilian or Spanish, including the national variants of Latin American countries, is among those that usually have the best support, since it is one of the most widely used in the world.

And the rest of Spain’s languages? Things are not bad, but there is room for improvement. According to the number of speakers, Catalan or Valencian would be first on the list, although a variant of it is usually absent – ​​as is the case with Spanish – that specifically includes the Valencian forms. Overall, the level of support for Catalan is the best after Spanish and it adapts the fastest to new developments.

In third place would be Galician, whose use in Google Translate mobile applications is also possible offline, although it still lacks voice output. In fourth and last place would be due to its number of speakers Basque, which can finally be downloaded for use without an Internet connectionalthough, like Galician, it still has no voice output.

Be that as it may, the latest update to the Google Translate mobile app has expanded support for offline languages, adding 33 to the ones already available. Among them Euskera, one of the oldest European languages ​​of origin and the co-official language of the Basque Country and Navarre, two autonomous communities in northern Spain. • Open the Google Translate app and click the user icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
• Go to the “Downloaded languages” section, find it and click the download icon.

And it is done. You can now translate from or to Basque when you run out of internet connection, but be sure to download other languages ​​to make it work (usually only English is downloaded by default).
