The MSI Cubi 5 12M is a new compact PC that the Taiwanese manufacturer introduced at CES and has just gone on sale in some regions with a starting price of $449.
Mini-PCs are an alternative group of products to typical towers. Interesting when there is no space left or we want the table to be as clean as possible, can be placed anywhere on it or on wall mounts or behind the monitor for VESA support. They consume and are low-noise (passively cooled models are available), while offering sufficient performance for most computing tasks and good connectivity for their size.

The mentioned model is a good example of these advantages. It maintains the compact size of the previous versions of the Cubi series with dimensions of o 124 x 124 x 53.7 mm in a volume of 0.66 liters. It is based on the twelfth generation of Intel processors with the option of installing three models: Core i7-1255U, Core i5-1235U or Core i3-1215U in the basic version.
You can equip up to 64 GB of memory DDR4/3200 MHz RAM in two SODIMMs and two storage units, one M.2 PCIe SSD and another SSD (or hard drive) in another 2.5-inch slot. Comes with a 65W power adapter.
The compact size does not have to be in conflict with the lack of connectivity, and this model stands out with a wide selection of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, two Ethernet LANs (1 and 2.5 Gbe), three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports, HDMI output and Display Port and those corresponding sound. It also supports the latest wireless standards with the Intel AX211 chip providing Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
MSI will distribute its new mini-PC worldwide in various configurations, including interesting ones bare bones so that the user can use their own RAM, storage and operating system in addition to the equipped versions that start with a Core i3 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. This type of hardware supports Windows as well as any modern GNU/Linux distribution.
MSI Cubi 5 12M price starts from 449 dollars and is already on sale in the United States. It should reach the rest of the international markets during this quarter.
