It is said that Sony has been working on a new PlayStation 5 model for a while. With the release of the PS5 over 2 years ago, the company is keeping up with the cycle of releasing a new variant of its current game console lineup. So, the launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro could be just around the corner.
According to a source close to the subject, the Japanese tech giant plans to launch the PS5 Pro in the first half of this year. For now, the brand has not yet made any official claims regarding the launch of the PS5 Pro console. Although the source believes that the company is preparing for the April 2023 launch. So the PlayStation 5 Pro will be announced nearly two and a half years after the original variant, introduced in late 2020, was released.
The source also claimed that Sony’s next game console will be the PS5 Pro, not the PS5 Slim we reported earlier. As the higher end model, we can expect the console to offer better performance thanks to updated specifications. This will likely come in the form of a new APU chipset from AMD and even minor changes to its design. The source pointed to one of the important changes, namely the temperature management system.
The company is reportedly planning to focus on cooling with liquid cooling technology, which is one of the main aspects of the PS5 Pro. This means that the PS5 Pro could be water-cooled instead of the liquid metal found on the original PS5 model. It is quite interesting that the company has been able to make this change to its cooling technology, due to the recent discussions about the PS5’s cooling system malfunctioning and liquid metal leaking.
