“We have identified a potential network issue and are reviewing telemetry to determine next troubleshooting steps,” the company said.
Microsoft did not disclose the number of users affected by the outage, but data from the Downdetector website showed that there were more than 3,900 incidents in India and more than 900 in Japan.
Outages were also reported in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, problems with the operation of a number of services were observed among users in Ukraine.
During the outage, most users were unable to text, join calls, or use any of the Teams features.
Other affected services include Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
