NASA’s Perseverance rover took a new selfie from the Red Planet.

As reported by Ukrinform, this is stated in the press release of the American agency.

“The Perseverance rover took selfies with some of the 10 soil sample tubes it left in the Crater Lake area. The image was captured by the WATSON camera at the tip of the rover’s robotic arm on the mission’s 682nd Martian day on January 20, 2023,” he said.

It is stated that the selfie itself consists of 56 separate Watson images that were glued together after being sent to Earth.

WATSON was built by Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) in San Diego and is jointly operated by MSSS and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

As reported by Ukrinform, the Perseverance spacecraft was sent to Mars along with the Ingenuity helicopter as part of the NASA research mission on February 18, 2021.

One of its missions is to collect rock samples on Mars, which will be taken to Earth by a special joint mission of the European Space Agency and NASA.
