Ryan Liedemann, an amateur engineer from the United States, created the Lademann XLR V3 custom quadcopter, recognized by Guinness Book of Records experts as the fastest drone in the world. This was reported by the New Atlas publication.
By classic quadcopter standards, the Lademann XLR V3 looks unusual. The control unit and sensors of the device are hidden inside a “ball-shaped” case. Similar aerodynamic nozzles are used for all four engines. In full configuration, the helicopter weighs 490 g.
When the Lademann XLR V3 takes off, it hovers like a regular quadcopter. However, when it’s time to move forward, the device tilts and flies horizontally like an airplane.
In the presence of the Guinness Book of Records jury, the amateur engineer managed to reach the top speed of 414 km/h. But the Book entered the average indicator from the results of several flights upwind and upwind.
