Starlink customer service goes from bad to worse

Most likely is Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite Internet service Elon Musk’s entrepreneurial initiative, which provoked the most talk, even more so than Tesla, which is something to say. Mainly because as a project it is very interesting. His proposal to bring broadband internet access to the last corner of our planet is, we cannot deny, a very interesting premise, and a satellite model is the most logical solution for this purpose.

Shortly afterwards, however, Starlink’s less friendly face began to be seen, especially in the lead role problems and risks posed by the satellite network which form the access network of services. There are currently around 1,500 of them, but in the first phase, the service is aimed at reaching 12,000. And I say that the first phase is, because the long-term goal is even more ambitious: 42,000 satellites around our planet. I won’t go into all the problems this can cause now, but you can see them here.

Another Starlink problem is a problem we talked about at the beginning of the year, which has far from improved, but seems to be getting worse over the months. And the fact is that, according to what we can read in Business Insider, more and more customers have booked a set of satellite Internet access many months ago, and that they had not yet gained access not only but also communication from Starlink with an estimate of when they will arrive.

Starlink customer service goes from bad to worse

The problem is that, in addition, during the long wait, they found, by surprise, with increase in the price of both the access system and the monthly Starlink fee. And that’s because when they booked him and paid the signal, $ 100, his final price was $ 500, they suddenly found that they would eventually have to pay $ 550 (new clients would have to pay 600) and that the monthly service fee would increase for all users from $ 99 to $ 110. When they get the set, of course no news.

As a result, more customers, annoyed by the wait and annoyed by the price increase, decided to cancel their request, and subsequently demanded a hundred dollars to pay as a deposit for the reservation, a place where they encountered a major weakness that we had already talked about. a few months ago: Insufficient Starlink customer service able to manage the current volume of users, including those who do not yet have the set but have booked it.
