The authoritative analytical company Canalys has released a report on global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2022. According to experts, the market shrank by 11%, but some manufacturers managed to strengthen their positions despite numerous difficulties.

According to the results of the first quarter of 2022, Samsung was in first place with a share of 24%, which is 5% more than in the holiday quarter and 2% than in the first quarter of 2021. Strong demand for the flagship Galaxy S22 series and the A-series model contributed to this, analysts said.

Apple, which took second place, accounted for 18%. The US company jumped by 3% compared to the previous year due to the release of the third generation iPhone SE and the great popularity of the iPhone 13 series. Other companies from the top five, and these are Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo, slightly reduced their share.

Experts note that the general drop in supplies is due to events in Ukraine related to coronavirus quarantine in China, shortages of components and global inflation. However, the Canalys report carries a certain amount of optimism. The company’s specialists believe that the shortage of components can be resolved earlier than expected.
