This was expressed by the company’s chief executive, Armin Papperger, in an interview with Reuters, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that Rheinmetall is negotiating with Lockheed Martin, the American “Hymars” manufacturer.

“At the Munich Security Conference, we are considering signing an agreement with Lockheed Martin to begin production of HIMARS (in Germany),” he said, referring to the annual meeting of political and defense leaders to be held in mid-February. “We have the technology to make warheads and rocket engines, and we also have trucks that can mount launchers.”

The deal requires an investment of several hundred million euros, the majority of which Rheinmetall will finance.
