Error code 0x800f0831 is most commonly encountered by users when trying to download and install updates. There are also those who encounter the rebooting issue.
And although the problem is not common, it also appeared relatively long ago. Yes, even a five month old post on the Feedback Hub site mentions problems with the Windows 11 update installation process.
It’s worth noting that Microsoft is aware of the issue and “makes every effort to resolve Windows Update issues, including including SSUs (serving stack updates) in the monthly cumulative update.” But the latter, unfortunately, did not help.
