Researchers from the University of Tasmania, together with the Australian Comics Agency, have developed a space antenna that will track ships and satellites in space.
As reported by Ukrinform, Miragenews is reporting it.
According to Professor Simon Ellingsen, the new 7.3-metre antenna, located 70 kilometers north of the city of Hobart (south of the Australian island of Tasmania), will communicate with Earth for low-Earth orbiting satellites.
“Previously we could only listen to transmissions from the spacecraft, but now we can transmit messages to the spacecraft via radio frequency communication, send commands as well as receive data. All over the world, satellites are being launched into space more and more frequently. “To launch these assets and keep them safe after they enter orbit, we need to know where other vehicles are already in space,” he added.
The head of the Australian Space Agency, Enrico Palermo, noted that this new antenna-shaped capability will further strengthen Australia’s position as a strong and attractive partner in space.
As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA spacecraft that humans will fly to the moon has successfully returned to Earth.
