The Metal Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ACC) said that because of its properties, the new material will find application in cosmonautics and precision instrument manufacturing.
Scientists from the ANC, the China University of Science and Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Shanghai University of Technology were involved in the development.
It is noted that the density of the new material is equal to the density of the aluminum alloy.
At room temperature, the compressive and bending strength limits of the new metal-ceramic material exceed 1 GPa and approach 700 MPa at 200 degrees Celsius.
According to these indicators, it is significantly superior to other composite materials based on magnesium and ceramics.
