Ukrainians were told how to protect themselves from Russian hackers

Russian hackers are increasingly carrying out cyberattacks against ordinary Ukrainians. Most often, criminals use the topics of payments to immigrants and assistance to Ukrainians abroad. This was reported by the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.

In particular, hackers use the phishing method – they send messages to get the credentials of Ukrainians.

The number of phishing emails is increasing under the guise of information about state aid to internally displaced persons and Ukrainians temporarily abroad. The attackers who carry out such mails follow the Ukrainian news closely and respond quickly to any news of aid.” – said in the press release.

Experts reminded Ukrainians how to protect themselves from phishing attacks:

  • do not open a letter from unknown recipients;
  • do not follow links from such letters and do not enter your personal data;
  • enable two-factor authentication on social networks and all services that support such a service.

The State Special Communications Service reminds you that it is possible to obtain financial assistance from the state only in “Actions” and obtain information in official institutions.

In addition, the number of informational and psychological operations against the Ukrainian population in social networks and messengers is growing. Hackers will hack the accounts of Ukrainian soldiers or high-ranking officials to spread propaganda and invite Ukrainians to surrender.
