A few days ago the model arrived I live X80 PRO so we can test it and squeeze as much as possible. And the fact that this device offers the most high-end functions on the market is highlighted above all by its photographic module thanks to Zeiss technology. Compete with other top devices of 2022 such as Xiaomi 12 Pro or Samsung S22Ultraamong others.

I am generally used to using my device OnePlus 9 which is slightly smaller than this Vivo but without the curved screen. Editing to a slightly larger admin area was easy. However, I don’t really understand the infinity screen because I have narrow hands and tend to use a phone with one. This generally affects the navigation comfort quite a bit when you have to press your thumb on the other side of the screen. However, having a screen almost 7 inches This is greatly appreciated, especially when watching streams on Twitch or YouTube.
On the other hand, the rear design is quite well integrated, as despite the four cameras, the sensor and the light, everything is gathered in its highest third. And the truth is that having so much camera and big screen it doesn’t make the phone very heavyslightly over 200 grams, quite similar to the others.
As for the connection slot, it uses the USB-C standard, at the bottom and next to it is the SIM reader.
The device screen is a AMOLED 6’78 inches and curved on pages with resolution up to 3200 x 1440 pixels. The device itself allows you to configure the quality to FullHD or 2kexcept for a soft drink 60 Hz or 120 Hz. It also has the option of visual enhancement, which consists in optimizing the colors and contrast of some images, allowing us to choose in which applications this enhancement will be applied. Of course, all this consumes more energy.
As for the sensitivity of the screen, it is correct. The biometric controls seemed very optimal (much better than other devices) and the gesture sensitivity is also very smooth. However, the problem I always see with this type of screen is the curved aesthetic, as we can interfere with gestures when holding the phone. I always thought it was more aesthetic than anything else.
At the software level, a smartphone uses an operating system a fun touch, which is the manufacturer’s customized Android. In addition to the ability to configure the screen enhancements we talked about earlier, it offers a setting called Ultra Game Mode that optimizes and offers some interesting options for our games.
However, one important thing that I think is interesting to comment on is the user experience I had with SMS notifications and the lock screen, especially when entering codes that are sent as SMS. I mean short messages to be able to authorize and Log in or banking movement. These are not fully displayed when received, so downloading notifications is quite inconvenient. There was also something very unpleasant at that time connect the car via bluetooth not following the volume setting itself in the place where it was set. That said, every time I plugged it in, it wasn’t where I configured it, and I had to raise or lower it every time I used it.
As for the lock, face unlock it works pretty well when there’s light, but when it’s not, the film changes. The first thing the device does is that it lights up the screen a lot, trying to light you up, which is quite annoying in the dark. In order to go to the next unlock option, you need to press the disable button, which will make the screen stop flashing and offer the next unlock option. In my case, I configured the fingerprint and pattern option, but here the programming first offers the pattern to the biometric check, an order that did not convince me, because the opposite order is more intuitive. And no matter how hard I tried to configure the order, I failed.
Combination processor (Snapdragon 8) and RAM (12 GB) They make this terminal a real beast for everyday use. You can have quite a few apps running and switch between them seamlessly. I mainly used messaging apps, GPS, GDrive in all its aspects, Instagram, photos and video and audio apps.
In addition, the phone comes standard with storage o 256 GB, more than enough capacity to take enough photos and videos and even install demanding applications.
As for autonomy, it usually arrives at the end of the day if not used continuously. We’ll have to load it at some point before that changes. one would be better a battery with a larger capacity than the one it carries (4700 mAh) because that’s what’s expected of a top-of-the-line phone for over a thousand euros.
I also think it’s important to mention that it’s a phone quite hard physically since then it has taken several good falls to the ground in various ways from a generally medium height, wearing only the cape it comes with as standard, and holding up very satisfactorily. I’m a mess, I admit it.
The photo and video module is the highlight of this model because it uses technology Zeiss. That’s actually what caught my attention the most about this phone, because one of my favorite hobbies is painting miniatures. You always end up taking a picture of them once they’re done, and I’ve been missing a phone that takes good shots for a while now.
He has a phone 4 rear cameraswhere main has de 50 extra megapixels with a focal length of f / 1.57. Similarly, the other chambers are treated as sa ultra-wide f/2.2 aperture and 48 megapixelsanother for a portrait 12 megapixels and f/1.9 aperture and 8 megapixel periscopic sensor with up to 5x magnification. As for the front camera, it is 32 megapixels with f/2.5 aperture.
But not everything is photography. This module allows you to do that videos from 1080p at 30fps, up to 8K at 30fps, up to 4K at 60fps. This offers a good range of options if it’s ours
Added to all this is the addition of Zeiss with glass that acts as an anti-reflective coating and image processing software when shooting, it gets very good colors and is quite balanced. It also has many filters for most influencers.
I was surprised in a good way and especially by the night mode, because with other phones I always appreciated a lot of noise in addition to too dark walking, and quite a bit with this one.
All this makes this device one of the best candidates if we are most interested in photography and video.
The Vivo X80 PRO comes standard with built-in stereo speakers and it does the job perfectly. However, it seems to me it lacks a little more maximum volume, because compared to my previous device, the OnePlus 9 PRO, it seems to be lagging behind. I especially noticed this in the shower where I usually use my phone’s own speaker.
Additionally, at this level, the software layer also allows you to add audio enhancements with super-resolution audio for those with the best hearing.
They also include basic wired headphones with a microphone in the box, something not seen in many brands anymore.
Finally, feelings with the Vivo X80 PRO were generally very positive, especially on the photographic and video level. However, I think the manufacturer’s own Android layer it carries should be a bit more polished and intuitive.
I think it’s a very interesting phone, and although it’s not well known, it’s already fighting other titans like the xiaomi 12 Pro and The Samsung S22 Ultra we talked about at the beginning. Vivo will certainly continue to surprise us in the future.
