The Atlas robot performs particularly impressively, performing acrobatic moves that are sometimes too complex even for some skilled athletes.

Boston Dynamics recently released a video of the Atlas robot performing a seemingly complex series of actions on a makeshift construction site. He took the board, built it like bridges on the scaffolding, grabbed a toolbox, went to the dock and threw it at the man above. And now the representatives of the company gave us the opportunity to “look behind the scenes” of shooting such videos and see how the training process of the Atlas robot is.

The video clip below makes a double impression. It turns out that the Atlas robot is still far from perfection, which literally permeates all demo videos with its participation. We can see the robot tripping over flat ground, and completing acrobatic moves often results in failure and then a fall.

Despite all this, the company’s engineers continue to train the robot, not literally, but in terms of continuous improvement of its software, design, sensor system and control. And these trainings for the job itself are given with “blood”, or rather, the scratches and cracks on his body, and these are instantly fixed by the same engineers.

But it is clear that the training process brings results, the Atlas robot acquires new abilities every time, and the videos created by Boston Dynamics are becoming more and more spectacular. And we can only wish success to both the company’s engineers and the business itself in this difficult task.
