Scientists have found evidence of the influence of lunar tides on the Earth’s plasmasphere.

An international group of scientists has discovered for the first time evidence of the influence of lunar tides on Earth’s plasma sphere, the cold plasma-filled interior of our planet’s magnetosphere.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Xinhua.

The effects that lunar tides cause on Earth’s crust, oceans, atmosphere and ionosphere have already been reported, the scientists said. However, the question of whether there is a plasma-dominated lunar tide effect remains open.

Shandong University researcher Xiao Chao said the study analyzed data from more than 10 satellites over the past four decades.

The scientists found that the signal caused by the lunar tide in the Earth’s plasma sphere has a distinct diurnal and lunar periodicity that differs from the semi-diurnal and semi-annual variations characteristic of most lunar tidal effects previously observed elsewhere.

Chao pointed out that the results obtained expand our understanding of the interaction between the Earth and the Moon.

He also added that it provides important clues for future studies in larger regions, including our solar system and other planetary systems beyond, and in systems consisting of two celestial bodies.

As reported by Ukrinform, Chinese researchers have created an artificial intelligence-based reversal and prediction system for the Indonesian Transitional Flow (ITF) that can make reliable predictions about ocean currents seven months from now.
